In a statement issued yesterday via a video link, Greenidge acknowledged that his response during Monday’s BiMPay press conference was “inappropriate”.
“A reporter asked me a fair question on the cost of BiMPay and I should have answered directly,” he said. “There is no place for making light of a question like that and there is no place for seemingly dismissive of the public’s right to know how public resources are being used. So let me say first, I am sorry.”
The Governor specifically apologised to the reporter who posed the question, as well as members of the public.
“I apologise to a young reporter who was simply doing his job.
