Arthur Smith Primary reclaims BICO Football title

Arthur Smith Primary School are champions of the National Sports Council BICO Football Competition once again after defeating St Cyprian’s Boys 2-1 at the Wildey Turf yesterday evening.

The Wildcats were forced to come from behind after a first-half corner was not properly cleared. The ball ricocheted off Arthur Smith midfielder Tevon Matthews and rolled over the line to give St Cyprian’s the lead in the 18th minute.

The response was swift. Malachi Clarke reacted first to a cross into the penalty area and scrambled home the equaliser in the 25th minute.

With the match locked at 1-1, Matthews redeemed himself in spectacular fashion in the 11th minute of extra time. Spotting the goalkeeper off his line, he unleashed an audacious strike from the halfway line that flew straight into the net to seal a dramatic victory.

The triumph further cements Arthur Smith’s dominance in the competition. They lifted the title in 2024, finished as runners-up in 2025, and have now reclaimed the championship in 2026. (JC)
