West Indies’ white-ball captain Shai Hope is backing his squad to produce an improved batting performance in today’s One-Day International (ODI) against New Zealand at Kensington Oval as they set out to level the five-match series.
After taking a 1-0 lead with victory at Providence, Guyana, the West Indies batting line-up struggled in the following two matches after being sent in to bat first, posting scores of 138 and 140 all out, respectively, on spin-friendly surfaces as New Zealand moved 2-1 ahead in the series.
Speaking to the Sun Sport ahead of today’s encounter, Hope said it would be vital for his side to adapt quickly to what is expected to be a faster surface at Kensington Oval.
“I don’t think it’s (the conditions) going to be as slow and low, but again, the adaptation needs to happen when the toss flips, and the first ball is called,” Hope said.
