Despite a return of ten total medals from both the recently concluded Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games and Commonwealth Games (CWG), the Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) is encouraged by the performances of the island’s athletes but acknowledged that the organisation will review its approach to team selection and investment.
Barbados ended the CAC Games in the Dominican Republic with nine medals; two golds, five silvers and two bronze medals having sent 141 athletes to compete 24 sports.
That haul equalled the tally from the 2023 campaign and surpassed the amount won at the 2018 and 2014 editions which was six and four medals, respectively.
Speaking with Nation Sport, BOA president Sandra Osborne revealed that the size of the delegation needed to be viewed in the context of the developmental role the CAC Games play for Barbadian athletes.
