“Barbados’ first director of Finance and Planning, Sir Stephen Emtage has died.
Nationnews understands the former Public Servant who was bestowed a Knighthood for his outstanding contribution to the financial services in Barbados’ public and private sectors, passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital yesterday.
Sir Stephen entered the Public Service as an administrative assistant during the administration of a colonial government and rose to the position of director of Finance and Planning in the post-independence administration of Barbados’ first Prime Minister, National Hero The Right Honourable Errol Barrow.
He was 88.
