‘Selling friendship’ costs man $350

A youngster who “sold [his] friendship” for $1 000 was ordered to pay compensation to his former friend when he appeared in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Ahkel Ryan Harewood, 23, of 2nd Avenue, New Orleans, The City, admitted he stole four rings, which belonged to Leonard Harewood, between June 2 and August 10.

Prosecutor Sergeant Kenmore Phillips said the two were friends and the complainant loaned Harewood his rings to wear to an event, with the understanding that they would be returned in two weeks’ time.

However, after the two weeks passed, the complainant contacted Harewood, who said he had lost two of the rings. The complainant told him
to bring the remaining two but another two weeks passed and he did not hear from Harewood.
