A man was rescued after falling into a 20-foot-deep well at his residence at Second Avenue, Goodland, St Michael, on Friday.
Divisional Officer Fernando McAllister said the Barbados Fire Service received the call at approximately 1:47 p.m.
Two fire tenders responded.
McAllister said the man was found lying in the well and rescuers used a mechanical advantage system to retrieve him.
“He was conscious and he was holding on to the perimeter of the well, using it for support,” McAllister said.
He added that he could not confirm whether the man had sustained any injuries, but said he appeared happy to have been rescued.
The man was handed over to ambulance personnel and taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for observation.
