Sex trend

BARBADIAN SCHOOLCHILDREN are turning increasingly to prostitution because of financial challenges and peer pressure to “keep up with the Joneses”, according to an adult entertainment executive.

Charles “Charlie Spice” Lewis, the president of the Global Adult Industry Association, said also that the trend was not unique to Barbados since he had similar reports from other Caribbean countries.

He told the Saturday Sun that the number of schoolchildren engaged in prostitution locally was “alarming”.

What was even more disturbing, he said, was that some parents were aware of what was happening and either encouraged or failed to discourage the exploitation of their own children as they benefited financially directly or indirectly. (SDB Media)
