Bus blues

THE FINANCIALLY-TROUBLED Transport Board has a major headache on its hands – a huge number of bus accidents!

Those road accidents are running as high as one per day.

They’re a drain on the Board’s resources, given the high cost of  repairs as well as the large sum the institution has to pay in terms of insurance coverage.

One troubling statistic is that the Board has to assume liability for a large number of the accidents.

Minister of Transport Michael Lashley spelled out the Board’s problem yesterday when he addressed the opening ceremony of a defensive driving course at the National Housing Corporation for Transport Board drivers. (TY)
