Marshall does it

SHOWING A GLIMPSE of what it takes to become a champion, Barbadian Kaipo Marshall came from a set down to win the boys’ under-14 title in the 2015 ITF/Barbados International Junior Tennis Tournament.

Marshall, a 13-year-old student of the St Michael School, fought off St Lucian Adriel Bousquet to win yesterday’s championship play-off at the National Tennis Centre 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 in close to three hours of hard work and determination.

Going into yesterday’s final, both players had dominated their section of the draw and neither had dropped a set. However, Marshall found himself trailing the St Lucian after Bousquet, the No.1 seed, had fed him a mixed bag of solid groundstrokes and high looping balls. (BB)
