NEARLY SEVEN YEARS after it was spared from the wrecking ball, the home of the man who composed the music to the National Anthem is threatened once again.
This time the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) has served notice that the Chapel Street, Speightstown home of Roland Edwards could be reduced to rubble any time after March 28.
The house, which has been on the department’s demolition list since 2003 and came within days of being torn down in May, 2008, is at the centre of a decades-long family dispute between Edwards’ two daughters.
So bitter is the battle for the control of the property that Edwards’ grandson has seemingly washed his hands of the matter. (HLE)
