FTC: Get airtight building contracts

THE FAIR TRADING COMMISSION (FTC) has advised consumers to ensure contracts they receive from builders are detailed, specific and airtight.

Contractors have also been reminded they have a duty to honestly fulfil their obligations to clients.

The FTC’s principal officers – chief executive officer Peggy Griffith, director of consumer protection Judy Maynard and consumer protection officer Fiona Scantlebury – laid it all out for contractors and builders during a workshop at Accra Beach Hotel yesterday, in which the construction industry and its impact on consumers came under the microscope.
