Barbados’ tennis duo of Darian King and Haydn Lewis was beaten 7-6, 3-6, 8-10 by hometown boys Juan Pablo Varillas and Sergio Galdos in a thrilling second round doubles clash at the Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru last night.
The Bajans showed great fight to rally from 2-4 in games in the first set to lock at four, lead 5-4 to then hold advantages 6-4 and 6-5 but the locals locked and forced the tie breaker in the first set.
King however responded brillantly and produced an ace to take the tie breaker.  The second set was even closer, but after Peru took four of those games from a tie of 40-all they blew away Barbados at love in the ninth game to easily win 6-3 and brought on the heart breaking super tie-breaker.
