Foster puts on a show

One of Barbados’ veterans at international meets, Roberta Foster, will be going full gallop in today’s second round of equestrian after a satisfying performance in yesterday’s dressage at the 18th Pan American Games.

Cutting an impressive picture of elegance and form on Chichic, Foster entered the spanking new facility at the Escuela de Equitacion del Ejercito at number 23 of 38 competitors and she left with 66.618 points, which gained her a ninth spot at the stage.

Well aware that the dressage was not her best event, Foster put on a show to woo the judges while gaining nods of approval from a large Barbadian support comprising president of the Barbados Olympic Association Sandra Osborne, former president Steve Stoute, secretary general Erskine Simmons, director Ytannia Wiggins and assistant chef de mission Gail Craig-Archer.

“I feel amazing. She just felt pumped and ready and I believe that I smiled for the entire time. There have been people who have been eliminated so I feel good.

“(Today) is my favourite test. The dressage is not my favourite, (today’s) is my favourite, so I am looking for a better score.  I need to get into the top 50 per cent to go into the small tour, go into the free style and that is when you really dance the music,” said Foster. (KB)
