NAPIER, New Zealand – The West Indies players who were slapped with a double tax imposition by Australian authorities at the Cricket World Cup have been swiftly refunded a portion of the money by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).
The development follows an exclusive story carried last week in the SUNDAY SUN that the players on regional retainer contracts were being taxed for earnings outside of Australia.
But the same players received notification on Wednesday that the deductions were being challenged and would be returned.
At the end of last month, the players had been emailed their payslips which showed that 32.5 per cent of their monthly retainer contracts was being taxed.
