MINISTER OF HOUSING Denis Kellman has described the Opposition Barbados Labour Party’s (BLP) no-confidence motion against Speaker of the House Michael Carrington as “lazy”.

He told the media on Sunday evening after a Democratic Labour Party (DLP) St Michael South East branch meeting in Parkinson Memorial School, that the motion was simply a way for the BLP to return to Parliament.

“It is a very lazy excuse to get back in the House. How can you have a no-confidence motion against a man who you have said you would not sit down in Parliament with?” he said.

The BLP filed the motion against Carrington last week in the absence of a report from the Committee of Privileges on the attorney’s conduct concerning his client John Griffiths.

Opposition leader Mia Mottley was quoted as saying they were returning to the house to debate the Estimates as they could not allow the DLP to “ram a package of fiscal and economic measures through Parliament without our dissecting their proposals and allocations”. (CA)
