ARCHBISHOP OF THE WEST INDIES Dr John Holder is urging young people in Barbados to stop the violence and change course.

The archbishop charged yesterday there was a “generation of young people” who seemed to be moving away from formerly accepted norms in the society, and resorting to violence as a means to an end often for the monetary gain.

In a telephone interview with the Saturday Sun, Holder said young people believed they could solve their problems or correct what they thought was wrong, by using violence. “They think they have somehow the right to harm and to maim and to kill without the understanding that there is another structure in the society called the law that deals with its violations.”
