Well, good enough at least.
They weren’t as spectacular as advertised, but Pan American Life Insurance Warrens won all the same, with basketball’s latest “super team” barely pulling out a last-second 64-62 thriller over Station Hill in Thursday’s Co-operators General Knockouts at the Wildey Gym.
It wasn’t quite the blockbuster opening act expected from a retooled contender that spent this last offseason loading up for another title run after acquiring disgruntled Lakers Mark Bridgeman, Adrian Allman and Jamar King.
On a night that actually witnessed a gruesome ankle injury in the previous game, the nightcap may have been the most ghastly incident on show as neither side looked a likely playoff contender as previously billed.
