Barbados Pride may very well have surrendered the Regional Four-Day title when they slumped to a demoralising four-wicket defeat at the hands of the Guyana Jaguars on an enthralling final day yesterday.
The PCL league leaders, who had been set 333 to win on Sunday and resumed on 41 without loss, were assisted by no fewer than half a dozen dropped catches of varying degrees of difficulty by the Pride, and defied the defending champions’ bowling attack to reach 335 for six with 11 overs to spare, to further stretch their lead atop the standings.
Barbadian all-rounder Raymon Reifer, representing the Guyana Franchise, hoisted an innocuous, short-pitched delivery from pacer Miguel Cummins deep into the Haynes and Greenidge Stand to complete the marvelous come from behind victory.
