A NIGERIAN ORGANISATION based in Trinidad is trying to save the Nigerian student programme in Barbados.
Dr Oti Esimaje of the Esimaje Foundation told the SUNDAY SUN yesterday that his foundation would be seeking assistance from other organisations to raise $4 million to ensure that the students can begin their studies at the Barbados Community College.
Eighty-seven students form the Delta State Youth Empowerment Programme arrived in Barbados in December to pursue hospitality studies, but the programme has been mired in controversy and the students never started school.
Last week, the plug was pulled by the Delta State government, which is said to be making arrangements for the students to go back to Nigeria.
