VETERAN JOCKEY Patrick Husbands will be attempting to capture yet another win in the historic Queen’s Plate this coming Saturday at Woodbine Racetrack.
To date, the 46-year-old Barbadian has ridden in 19 editions of the Plate over the last two decades. Husbands’ first win in the Plate came in 2003 with Canadian Triple Crown champ Wando. In 2014, he secured another Plate win when he steered filly Lexie Lou to victory in the race.
This year Husbands will pilot He’s A Macho Man, a lightly-raced colt trained by Josie Carroll.
Although the champion jockey has not ridden the colt in any of his prior starts, Husbands has been working Carroll’s charge in the morning leading up to the Plate. (HM)
