Gayle not going yet

CHRIS GAYLE has not declared! In fact, the West Indies opening batsman has decided to spend more time at the crease and has made himself available for the upcoming Indian home series.

The 39-year-old, who earlier this year announced that the ICC Cricket World Cup would be his last event after two decades of wearing the West Indies cap, says he desires to play in not only the three one-day internationals of the series, but the Test matches as well.

“It’s still not the end. I still have a few games to go; maybe another series to go, as well. Who knows, we will see what happens.

“My plans after World Cup? I may play a Test match against India and then I will definitely play the ODIs against India. I won’t play the T20s. That’s my plan after the World Cup,” Gayle said yesterday during training at Old Trafford.

It overshadowed the preparation for the Windies’ match versus India today, which realistically is one being played for pride by the regional side.  (BAW)
