BARBADIAN STUDENTS of the University of the West Indies will be getting financial assistance with their tuition after all.
A statement from the Ministry of Education said Cabinet at its meeting of Thursday, February 12, approved the granting of tuition support (bursaries) to the tune of $3 000 000 for the Academic Year 2014 – 2015.
The statement issued through the Barbados Government Information Service said “this tuition support recognises that some students at the University of the West Indies (UWI) will need such assistance to complete or continue their studies”.
It added: “The Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation will in the shortest possible time communicate with those students whose applications were successful, as well as with the UWI.
“The Ministry welcomes this intervention and regrets the length of time taken to conclude this matter”. (Ministry of Education/BGIS/NB)
