A SUCCESSFUL DOLLAR DRIVE by a community group redounded to the benefit of a mother and her disabled daughter yesterday.
President of Community Services for the Disadvantaged Social Club, Desmond Hoyte, along with his liaison officer Keisha Hoyte and team leader and public relations officer Keimar Robinson presented Denita Louis and her ten-year-old daughter Destiny, with a bed, sheets and pillows yesterday at the Leinster Road, Waterford, St Michael home of Louis.
Hoyte said the social club, which has been in existence since 2001, has so far helped four families in various communities, through a number of fundraising activities.
“We had a silver dollar drive on the road to help alleviate poverty, to help people that [are] in need,” Hoyte explained, adding the group would soon be holding a launch to debut its silver drive. The president explained the social group’s officers went in the community “on a daily basis” to “raise funds for disabled and disadvantaged children in Barbados”. (HLE)
