Christmas has come early for former University of the West Indies (UWI) Blackbirds’ footballer Corey “Santa” Barrow.
One year after the Barbados Football Association (BFA) slapped the midfielder with a 15-year ban from all football-related activities, the arbitration committee of the Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) recently overturned the ruling.
Barrow, who was heavily penalised for attacking Silver Sands’ goalkeeper Jamal Moore during a Premier League game on May 27 at the Wildey Turf, will now be eligible to play again from 2020.
The successful appeal is welcome news for the 35-year-old, who no longer has to wait until his 49th birthday to return to the home of local football to play.
