EDEN LODGE PRIMARY will be eyeing their fourth successive CGI National Sports Council’s primary school hockey crown when the 2015 competition climaxes today at the Netball Stadium.
Rain disrupted the action with St Stephen’s yesterday giving defending champions Eden Lodge a scare as Gabriel Lowe struck early in the opening match.
However, last season’s most prolific scorer Raghnal Yarde responded with a gem to see Eden Lodge to a face-saving 1-1 draw.
Eden Lodge topped Zone B with a draw against Sharon Primary and then Yarde scored another goal to see his team defeating neighbours Lawrence T. Gay 1-0.
Sharon ended second in Zone B thanks to a goal from top runner Savion Hoyte as they turned back St Stephen’s 1-0.
Nine teams entered the fray with representations from Eden Lodge, Ellerton Primary, St Stephen’s, St Mary’s, Half Moon Fort, L. T. Gay and a boys’ and girls’ team from All Saints Primary.
A new skills champion will be crowned today as defending champions Grazettes Primary did not enter the competition.
From ten this morning the action in Zone A will play off as well as the skills competition before the semi-finals and finals are staged. (KB)
