TURNS OUT Cedric Alleyne won’t be leaving office just yet.
Tomorrow’s much-awaited National Domino Whist and Hearts Clubs Association’s general elections will have to wait even longer, with the annual general meeting being shelved until February following a meeting with the National Sports Council (NSC).
Sources within the NSC disclosed the postponement was agreed to by the outgoing president, Alleyne, and his executive at a meeting on Thursday dealing with undisclosed issues coming out of last year’s hosting of the World Championships.
Several high-ranking executive members apparently have been engaging in finger-pointing since last year following an extraordinary meeting where there were reports of heated exchanges between members of Alleyne’s council.
Alleyne disclosed earlier this week that he didn’t plan to seek re-election, while former president Rodney Inniss, World Council Domino Federation first vice president Gregory Blenman and Callum Bernard are tipped to run for the presidency. (JM)
