Representatives of 90 newly-arrived Nigerian students faced the media yesterday to tell the public why they have been protesting against their living arrangements.
Four students – Christopher Okolu, Judith Luckh, Igozi Ogunsuji and Samson Ukwedojor – said they had high expectations about coming to Barbados but all of this was shattered when they were given different stories about the arrangements since arriving over a week ago to undertake studies at the Barbados Community College (BCC).
Luckh explained that officials from Delta State, the students’ home state, had visited Barbados from December 14 to 16, where they toured Infinity On The Beach Hotel, Dover, Christ Church, where the students were supposed to be staying.
“They brought us pictures showing the hotel so we want to know what happened between December 16 and December 31 when we arrived here,” she told a news conference at the Clement Payne Centre.
