THE BARBADOS UNION OF TEACHERS (BUT) has some new timelines for the two agencies with primary responsibility for its members.
Following a meeting at the Sir Hugh Springer Auditorium at Solidarity House this morning, which was attended by about 1 500 of the just over 2 000 members on record, president Pedro Shepherd said the teachers asked the executive to inform the Personnel Administration Division (PAD) of a six-week timeline to complete assignment of all temporary teachers.
The PAD will also be asked to increase the number of established teaching posts by 436, which will take it an even 3 000.
The Ministry of Education has been given two weeks to get back to the BUT on the status of the investigation into the affairs at Parkinson Memorial and the action that has been started at Alma Parris. The clock started ticking today. (YB)
