POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING a shooting incident which occurred about 11 a.m. today at the junction of Brittons New Road and Bonnetts New Road, St Michael.

Police Public Relations Officer Assistant Superintendent (acting) David Welch said a man who resides in the area, was shot several times.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by a private vehicle.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin. His condition is also unknown.

One resident who lives almost directly in front of where the shooting took place said he was travelling along nearby Reece Road, when he heard the shots. By the time he reached his home a large crowd had converged, but he did not go to see what had happened.

Most of the other residents remained tight-lipped about what had occurred. (PR/LK)
