From the brink of elimination in the semi-finals to lifting the overall championship.

That is the story of the St Michael Merchants, who won two matches in contrasting fashion on their way to capturing the UWI/CO Williams Inter Parish T20 cricket title at the 3Ws Oval on Sunday night.

Hours after having to dig deep to overcome St George Pioneers in the second semi-final, The Merchants galloped to a runaway victory over St Peter Voyagers in the final.

Man Of The Match Jabari Yarde set the tone for the Merchants’ challenging total of 155 for six with a blistering knock of 71, punctuated by eight fours and five sixes, off just 37 balls after his side won the toss.

Then despite the Merchants spilling no fewer than half a dozen relatively easy catches, their bowlers still restricted their opponents to 119 for eight to win by 36 runs.
