A FORMER CONVICT from Barbados is at the centre of a row involving assaults on prison officers in Canada.

Errol Spooner, 35, whose conviction card ranges from burglary and robbery to sexual assaults, has been described by Canadian authorities as one of the main culprits assaulting prison officers.

In a court appearance last month, Spooner admitted to biting three prison officers until they bled and threatened to infect them with HIV.

“You’re going to die, I’m going to infect you. I have AIDS,” Spooner reportedly told the court after pleading guilty to assaulting the officers at the Toronto Detention Centre.
