Scores of residents of White Hill and Mount All, St Andrew, who have been affected by a major landslide could be in for some temporary relief from the island’s largest road-building firm, C.O. Williams Construction.
However, such relief would depend on Government agreeing to a suggestion for a temporary road into the district from the nearby community of Hillaby.
Over the Independence weekend residents hoping Government would change its mind about abandoning the badly damaged road told the MIDWEEK NATION their view that the road could be fixed was “confirmed” by C.O. Williams Construction official Phillip Atwell when he visited a day earlier.
Contacted by telephone, however, Atwell explained he was not seeking to second-guess the announced decision by Minister of Transport and Works Michael Lashley that the road would be abandoned, but had merely expressed an opinion while visiting the area to see after employees who live in the community.
