Opposition walks out of Parliament

FOR THE SECOND successive meeting of the House of Assembly, Opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP) members of parliament have staged a walk out.

After failing to get Speaker of the House Michael Carrington to have the issues facing the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) brought up for debate as a matter of urgency, Opposition MPs then vacated their seats and left the chamber.

Opposition Leader Mia Mottley made good on last Friday’s threat to walk out unless problems facing the QEH were placed on the order paper for urgent discussion.

The Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners said there were critical shortages of basic supplies, and the situation was forcing BAMP members to handle only emergency cases. (GE)
