BARBADOS PRIDE’S victory bid against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force has been stalled by rain and a better batting display by their opponents on the third day of their WICB Professional Cricket League match today.

Trinidad and Tobago Red Force, trailing on first innings by 264 after Barbados Pride quickly polished off their tail at the start of the day, reached 103 for one  at tea in their second turn at the crease at the Queen’s Park Oval.

More than two-and-a-half hours of play was lost because of rain that started soon after Barbados Pride finished off their hosts’ first innings.

Play resumed an hour after lunch and Trinidad and Tobago Red Force offered much more resistance than they did in the first innings.

Opener Evin Lewis (43 not out) and Yanick Ottley (33 not out) were together at the interval in an unbroken second wicket partnership of 65.

Pacer Kemar Roach removed Lendl Simmons for 27 to claim the lone second innings wicket for Barbados Pride.

At the start of the day, left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican snatched three quick wickets as Trinidad and Tobago Red Force, resuming on 89 for seven, were dismissed for 96 in reply to 360.

Warrican finished with four for 12 in 5.4 overs, while pacer Carlos Brathwaite took three for 13 in 12 overs. (HG)
