GEORGE TOWN – RASHEEME GRIFFITH is definitely Barbados’ CARIFTA Games’ golden boy in the 400-metre hurdlesThe Harrison College sixth-former struck gold for Barbados in the evening session on the second day of the 48th annual Games at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex here last night.

Griffith ran a clever race from Lane 4 as he paced himself over the first four hurdles in overcast conditions. He stumbled slightly as he approached the fifth hurdle but quickly regained his rhythm and went into overdrive just before entering the bend by the 200 mark.

He then scaled each hurdle and also sprinted between the barriers with passion and pride en route to a commanding victory in 51.47 seconds.

“I am very excited. This is a big accomplishment for me because me and my coach Ramon Armstrong were at it the whole year and [he] promised me a win, and I did,” Griffith told NATIONSPORT moments after the race.
