GEORGE TOWN – Barbados will be banking on their strong Under-20 Boys’ squad to get a 15-plus medal haul at the CARIFTA Games starting at the Truman Bodden Stadium here today at 9 a.m. (10 a.m. Barbados time)
The effort will be spearheaded by United States-based triple jumper Jonathan Miller, who has a personal best 15.89 metres.
Miller, a freshman at the University of Nebraska, will be hoping to repeat his Under-20 Boys’ gold-medal performance in The Bahamas last year when Barbados captured 13 medals, comprising three gold, five silver and five bronze.
He is joined by Kansas University’s Antoni Hoyte-Small, sprinter Matthew Clarke and the Jamaica-based high jumper Antonio Farrell.
Barbados is among 28 countries participating in the 48th edition of the Caribbean’s premier track and field meet, which features over 500 of the region’s best Under-17 and Under-20 athletes.
