WITH PERSEVERANCE and passion, even a child can do great things.

Shakayla Crichlow is living proof of this as the little farmer is the proud owner of an almost forty pound pumpkin.

Accompanied by camp director Cynthia Sealey, she came to the NATION’s Fontabelle, St Michael, offices to show off her achievement.

Sealey said the camp, located at St Ann’s Summer School, encouraged the children to plant crops at home.

“Shakayla took this to heart and has been planting everything she could get her hands on,” she said.

To prove this, the ten-year-old told the NATION she also had cucumbers, gooseberries, watermelons and more growing at home.

As for the pumpkin, she had plans for it.

“Pumpkin fritters first, then any other thing. I will share it with my family and friends,” she said. (CA)
