PUDDING & SOUSE: Big, brown and bad

A big, fat brown-skinned woman is as usual causing all sorts of headaches for her work colleagues.

Her latest move is to get her boyfriend installed as the No. 2 person in a particular work area.

He is known as a drunkard and a trouble tree who is still lucky to be working at the same place today given all of the trouble he has caused and foolishness he has done.

He was a regular absentee, often way past the two uncertified days without a doctor’s note. He is also known to get drunk, kick down doors and leave his shoe behind.

At one stage the guards had to be checking each and every vehicle leaving his work place to see if he was hiding in the trunk or the back seat trying to get in to share some blows to the heavyweight news carrier.

Now that this middle-aged woman, who is a feared troublemaker, wants to pull off this latest ruse, the workers are warning that, no matter which politician she goes to, or union officials she talks with, when human resource personnel give her their ears, the news can no longer be the same. They say the time for her foolishness must end and suggest that she start a Big and Beautiful Seniors Competition with some support from the body fitness  ladies.

Productivity blind spot

Whenever employers, trade unionists and politicians get together, all the talks are about productivity.

They all say that the first requirement is a fair day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.

So what happens to some of those big pay workers near St Michael’s Cathedral who are consistently late.

What about those at the foot of and around the bust of the heavy roller, who are always late.

And even some near Gill’s Road, The City, are a law above the rest and start work when they feel like.

Less than massive

The talk around is why the big ride from the heart of The City was not overflowing with supporters a few weeks ago.

Some people are blaming the poor turnout on the means of transport, given how frequently the police stop it. But while a few loyal friends and family who can be considered real anchors, the big-ups were nowhere to be seen.

Then there was to be the fun ride, and despite getting all the balloons and a few girls with their belly buttons showing in their colourful clothing, the support simply wasn’t there again.

One man standing in a churchyard nearby asked: I wonder if this is a sign of things to come?

Nice it’s not

There may be little control over the availability of beds.

There may be no toilet paper for visitors.

The place may be always crowded.

The waiting period may be long.

Many of the people present may not  be suited to be there at all.

The promises of better days to come may just continue to be nothing more than promises.

But if there’s one thing Tobago Crusoe and the other big guy with a deep voice from Mile-And-A-Quarter must do is to report “watchie” from the front line. Because those days of the plantation guard who only know to inflict pain and punishment done.

People even suggest NISE should go in and help.
