THE DAYS OF FREE health care in Barbados could become a thing of the past and Barbadians have been advised to get health insurance.

Minister of Health John Boyce said today Barbadians needed to be encouraged to buy health insurance to pay for their health services.

He was speaking at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital this morning where the Barbados Cancer Society presented an ultra-sound machine to the hospital’s urology department to be used in the detection of prostate cancer.

The $53 000 piece of equipment was purchased with funds raised through a campaign supported by private sector companies Shell Western, CGE International Insurance, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Rockley Golf Club and Goldcorp. (GC)
