Peter Allan and Brian Findlay emerged winners of a Barbados Golf Association two-ball scramble tournament contested last Saturday at the Sandy Lane Old 9 golf course in St James.

The winners defied intermittent showers and keen competition on the fairways and greens to win the tournament with a combined net-score of 63.

They narrowly edged Hadley Byer and Julian King, who shot a net-score of 63.25 to finish second, while third were the father and son team of Trenton and Phillip Weekes  with 66.5. Fourth were Ivan Codrington and Zerina Belgrave, who shot 67.5.

Over 40 players took part in the BGA fund-raising tournament which was supported by Powerade, Sol, the Sandy Lane Resort, Cin Cin Restaurant, Fusion and Lucky Horse-Shoe.

Among the other players collecting individual prizes were junior national player Tommi-Ann Grant, who took the longest drive among the females on Hole No.8, and Ivan Codrington, who won the men’s equivalent on Hole No.3.

Trenton Weekes, also the BGA Secretary, won the closest-to-the pin prize on the 7th hole as he flopped his tee-shot within four feet of the pin, on the much acclaimed signature hole that challenges players to find the green from a ridge 60 feet above.

BGA President Cally Boyea and BGA Council member Harriett Linton presented the prizes and thanked players, sponsors and staff of the Sandy Lane hosting course, for contributing to a successful tournament. (BB)
