Help for UWI students

THE UNIVERSITY of Independence Square is taking on the fight of displaced students of the University of the West Indies (UWI).

Maintaining that no Barbadian should be denied a university education because of poverty, coordinators David Comissiong and David Denny said the organisation is putting its services at the students’ disposal.

The goal is to represent anyone who still cannot afford to pay the tuition fees after making use of the payment options through the university and the Ministry of Education.

If the organisation fails to sway the UWI and the Government, it will shift gears to Plan B. The next step is to appeal to the conscience of Barbadians to donate funds to help meet the costs of the affected students.

The impending fight was disclosed during a Press conference at the Clement Payne Centre this morning. (YB)
