THE BARBADOS MUSEUM & Historical Society is looking at how it can maintain current programmes and staff in the face of reduced funding from Government.

In a statement issued yesterday through the Barbados Government Information Service, the non-profit organization said it had been impacted by the prevailing economic challenges but did not want to harm the “integrity of the institution and its long history of service”.

The museum said its council was accelerating the exploration of avenues which will allow for the preservation of employee jobs, while at the same time raising revenues.

“The council continues to work collaboratively with staff so as to gain maximum input into its deliberations and action plan for the future.

“Within the next two weeks, the council will be engaged in a comprehensive review of the Museum’s programmes and policies. It will lay the foundation for an even more profitable, efficient and nationally relevant institution,” the statement said. (NB/PR)
