There is just one candidate so far in the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) race to find a replacement for former prime minister Owen Arthur in the St Peter constituency.

Pat Parris, executive assistant to Leader of the Opposition, told the WEEKEND NATION yesterday that so far hotel executive Colin Jordan was the only declared candidate in the much- discussed race but that could change by Sunday.

Parris explained that the nomination process scheduled for Sunday at the Alexandra School was open and the rules of the party allowed for a potential candidate to be nominated from the floor on the day of the election.

Asked whether anyone else had expressed an interest in being considered for the BLP stronghold constituency, Parris explained that such matters would have to be addressed by general secretary Jerome Walcott. (GE)
