Dynamite in a small package, Noah Jordan, found his best form to knock off second ranked Xzavier Hastick and earn a place in the final of the Under-12 Boys’ singles of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at the Barbados Yacht Club.

Jordan, who has just two fingers on his left hand, battled bravely to defeat Hastick 4-2, 4-1 in a hard-fought semi-final before a crowd that included former Barbados players Sydney Odle-Lopez and Craig Smith.

“I feel good. I hit some really good groundstrokes. He is the number two seed and I was not seeded, so he was the favourite.

“The first set made a lot of difference. I got a lot of confidence from winning that set. I play football and I swim, but I love tennis,” said Jordan, the ten-year-old son of businessman Oliver Jordan and former Barbados golfer Claire Jordan.

Jordan will clash with St Gabriel’s schoolmate and No.1 seed Elliot Anthony in this morning’s final. Anthony had to claw his way from behind, reeling off the last eight games to win 5-3, 4-0 over Aidan Clarke in the second semi-final. (MK)
