NUMB!

That’s how Barbados and West Indies fast bowler Fidel Edwards has described his omission from all six teams involved in yesterday’s West Indies Cricket Board’s Player Draft for the inaugural Professional Cricket League (PCL), held at the Accra Beach Hotel, Christ Church.

Edwards, 32, who debuted for Barbados in 2001 and made his first appearance for the West Indies in 2003, has found himself on the outside looking in recently at the regional and international level.

Though he played for Barbados in April this year against Jamaica in the WICB’s four-day competition, his selection came only after he threatened to retire after being overlooked by Barbados’ selectors. Edwards also had to deal with the ignominy of being barred from entering the players’ dressing room at Kensington Oval in March despite training with the Barbados team.
