A pentecostal preacher has reminded worshippers that past glories cannot be used to serve God in the present.
During a service, attended by members of the St Andrew Parish Independence Committee, Sister Keisha Leacock advised listeners to have faith in Jesus Christ and to keep renewing the relationship with Him.
“We cannot serve God on past glories or past stories and we cannot use a charm or emblem that represents God’s presence as the Israelites did,” she said during the service at the Vision Pentecostal Church in Lakes, St Andrew, last Sunday.
Turning her attention to the Independence Committee members who began their month of activities with the service, Leacock gave them the same warning, instructing them to “launch out in faith to God in order to have your own now story and now glory”.
Later Nigel Williams, chairperson of the committee, told the DAILY NATION that September had been designated the month for St Andrew.
“We are putting God first in all that we do. The activities will continue on September 12 with a crab night, a quiz at Alleyne School on the 18th and the 21st will be our senior citizens bus ride,” he added.
The morning service was Youth Sunday, with the young people leading in worship and prayer, preaching and playing musical instruments. (RL)
