A 55-year-old British resident died Thursday night as a result of injuries she received when the vehicle in which she was travelling fell into the Rio Cobre in St Catherine.

A police report said Mary Gwendolyn and two friends were in a Toyota Sprinter motor car about 9:30 p.m. when the driver reportedly misjudged the turn to enter the Flat Bridge and the car plunged into the river.

The occupants of the vehicle were assisted by people at the scene and rushed to hospital where Gwendolyn was pronounced dead. (Jamaica Observer)
