Queen’s Park tradition going strong

Hundreds turned out in Queen’s Park today for the Christmas morning tradition.

Numbers were sparse when the band of the Royal Barbados Police Force struck up promptly at 7 a.m., but that changed rapidly as early morning church services ended and scores of church-goers flocked to the Park.

They queued for the tea room for that early morning cup they might have missed at home and ham bones were left bare as ham cutters were in big demand.

This morning’s Christmas in the Park was also an early event to kick off next year’s “We Gatherin”. Several Barbadians took visiting family members who indicated they would be back for the big coming together of Barbadians from the diaspora over the next 12 months.

The National Cultural Foundation presented this year’s Christmas in the Park and representatives were busy distributing  “We Gatherin” flyers to the large crowd. (GC)
