A call has been made for Barbados and other countries across the Caribbean to follow Cuba’s example and assist West Africa with the Ebola outbreak.

At a press briefing yesterday evening, president of the Cuban Barbadian Friendship Association David Denny said Cuba had sent more than 165 medical workers to assist and other governments should follow suit.

The medical workers are expected to work in Sierra Leone for a six month period, but it may be extended.

More than 3 600 people have been infected with Ebola in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria. (LK)
